Live action Gintama (銀魂) has revealed a set of pictures showing the childhood of Sakata Gintoki, Katsura Kotarou and Takasugi Shinsuke. The teacher of the trio, Shoyo Yoshida, is also seen in a picture. Despite showing only his back, the producer confirmed his identity to be Shoyo’s voice actor in the anime, Kouichi Yamadera.
In the original manga, Shoyo Yoshida is believed to be the most influential character in the plot. He is the reason why the trio join the war together and later part ways with each other.
Gintama is adapted from the manga of the same title which is illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi (空知英秋) and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The story revolves around the Yorozuya trio (Gintoki, Shinpachi and Kagura) and their daily lives in Edo. The movie’s plot is based off the Benizakura Arc (紅桜篇) .
The movie will premiere on 14th July, 2017 and a three-episode drama will air on 15th July.
