LiTMUS, Aiming, and Kodansha announced today in a live stream that they are co-developing a new asymmetric multiplayer game titled Kaminagashijima: Reincarnation of the Shrine Maiden(かみながしじま ～輪廻の巫女～). Coming to iOS and Android devices, the game is slated for a spring 2023 release
At a title-revealed program, the details of the Kaminagashijima game project were explained in detail, with the three companies’ representatives on stage would also explain plans for the title to branch out as a co-developed IP in the future.
▍Choosing Between God and Human
The synopsis of Kaminagashijima is explained as such: A group of girls one day awake to find themselves stranded on a strange deserted island created by the evil god Hiruko. In order to make an escape from the cursed island, the survivors must take on tasks while evading the many beasts Hiruko possesses to torment her victims.
It is explained in the live stream that players will split off into two competing teams. One player takes on the role of the god Hiruko while up to four other players are assigned the role of humans. Much like other games in its genre, the humans must complete tasks around the map and escape, while the god player seeks to hunt down the humans before they can make their exit.
Hiruko as a character cannot interact with the physical realm requiring her to instead possess the many animals that lurk on the island. However, if the survivors are close to making their escape, she is able to transform into a powered-up state where she can physically attack her victims assuming direct control.
Apart from this, players taking on the role of the god have access to other mischievous tricks like mimicking other survivors to catch them off, guard. Survivors will have to be cautious of their surroundings and be careful of their own buddies lest they find themselves in for a surprise by the hunter.
Survivors (humans) are inversely tasked with interacting with special console devices dotted around the map to unlock barriers that bar their exit. Along the way, they may access weapons and items to assist their attempts at freedom.
Each survivor is also assigned a class and skill that makes each unique. Shown off in the live stream were the classes: Attacker, Medic, Scout, Engineer, and All-Rounder.
▍Discover the Mystery of the Deserted Island
Interestingly, Kaminagashi is also slated to feature a full-blown story mode that will delve into the who and the what that goes on in the game. Though not much was divulged by the developer, it was hinted by the host that the story may go into explaining why exactly the gods of the island allow the survivors a clandestine yet possible way to escape their clutches.
