XSeed’s Loop8: Summer of Gods released a new gameplay trailer showing its systems, and how your choices affect the characters and combat ahead of its western release in Spring 2023.
Welcome to 1983, a world where mankind is on the verge of extinction from a supernatural force called the Kegai. As Nini, your job is to relive August over and over again, in a bid to find every clue and every advantage you can to stop the Kegai once and for all.
The game’s trailer shows how the characters react to your words, actions, and situations in the world, and how the relationships fuel your powers, taking the relationship system from your friends to the next level as it affects everything in combat.
Loop8 Launches for Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in Spring 2023.

As Loop8’s story is heavily based on the idea of changing the events of the war through reliving August, the game’s story places heavy emphasis on this aspect of the story by making relationships absolutely pivotal. Relationships will affect your team’s ability to fight off the Kegai and work together as a team.
Loop8’s characters react to the player based on a variety of factors including the time of day, events in the story, and how you interact with them. You can see each character’s actions, moods, and desires to help dictate how you should steer the conversation.
Conversing with them in this way will help you raise your friendship levels and certain parameters with them which will make them be more friendly towards you, and possibly to your other party members.
Relationships is key, as in battle their friendships with others can heavily dictate how well they can perform together in battle. If your allies aren’t too friendly with you or are on bad terms, their performance and team attacks with you will suffer dramatically, causing your team to not be in-sync, and putting all of you at risk.
This means even during combat, if a character chooses to help others out, they may still hate another even more because they haven’t been able to establish a good relationship outside of combat. To this end, you may want to bring a certain character with you, or put them on the sideline purely due to their relationships, even if they are stronger than others.
Successfully work together, however, and you can have an unstoppable team that can take on the Kegai. No matter how many times it takes, it’s up to you to build a relationship with your friends together and use the power of your bonds to save the world.
