The official website for the new anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s Urusei Yatsura revealed a third promotional video giving a sneak peek of its second cour, which will begin on January 5, 2023. The trailer also revealed newcomers and their voice roles, all backed by a brand new theme song by MAISONdes.
Aoi Yūki is joining the anime’s second cour as Ten. Ayahi Takagaki plays Ryunosuke Fujinami, while Shigeru Chiba plays Ryunosuke’s Dad.
The second cour of Urusei Yatsura anime sees the return of the musical project MAISONdes performing both the opening and ending tracks. MAISONdes, this time around sees the singer-songwriter asmi collaborating with VOCALOID Producer Surii on the new opening theme “Aiwanamchū feat. asmi, Surii” (アイワナムチュー feat. asmi, すりぃ). The ending piece was not revealed in the trailers and announcements thus far, though we could probably expect more great tunes from the musical crossover project.
A special program also premiered on youtube earlier today featuring voice casts of Lum (Sumire Uesaka) and Ataru (Hiroshi Kamiya) recounting the story beats that unfolded in the first season last Fall.

Ataru Moroboshi’s supernatural encounters with the feminine kind all start when he’s chosen to play tag with an alien princess named Lum who invades the earth on her UFO. Ataru has ten days to touch Lum’s horns or aliens will take over the globe. As it turns out, the game of tag is only the beginning of Ataru’s troubles, as he continues to attract strange encounters with otherworldly beings like the beautiful snow spirit Oyuki and the sexy crow goblin Princess Kurama.
