A new gameplay video of the roguelite FPS Witchfire, revealed during The Game Awards 2017 by the Polish game studio The Astronauts, was shared today showcasing the game’s support for NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 enhancement technology. The game is scheduled for early access on the Epic Games store in early 2023 for PC, with other platforms such as Steam and home consoles to follow.
Witchfire is a medieval dark fantasy-style FPS in which players take on the role of a sinner converted into an immortal witch hunter by the Vatican in order to win the war against witches, and pursue the powerful beings that lurk around the Black Sea armed with strange weapons and forbidden pagan magic, seeks to hunt down a powerful witch who holds the key to his salvation.
The game will feature a semi-open world structure, where each area is lightly connected, and a roguelite system where players can choose upgrades to enhance their abilities throughout their adventures.
The Astronauts is a studio founded by the creators of Painkiller, Bulletstorm and other unique FPS games from the Studio People Can Fly. After their first game, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, a unique first-person mystery adventure game, the Studio is back with Witchfire, their second attempt at the FPS genre.
