▍ Brown Dust 2 Gameplay
We got a pretty good look at some gameplay of Brown Dust 2’s early access, so let’s go over what was shown in the trailer.
■ In-game Combat
First off the trailer showed off some gameplay, this time the game is played on a 3×3 grid and with the phone in portrait orientation. It shows off characters using their skills to attack multiple enemies in certain positions, making it clear that some characters will have an advantage over others in certain scenarios.
We also get a glimpse at what looks like character types/classes, with each character having a different icon on the top right corner of their portrait, which likely determines how that character attacks or behaves.
■ Overworld and Exploration
After which we got a look at the world map which shows several houses dated across the map, signalling the areas the player can visit throughout the game with different locales, environments and enemies awaiting them.
Exploration gameplay was shown off here with the ability to eat food to restore health during a level, open up chests, interact with the environment, and pick up objects. there was one sequence where the player picked up a wooden barricade to block incoming arrows from a trap that would fire if they tried to unlock a treasure chest.
Another section showed off a simple puzzle where you’d have to tap on lanterns in a certain pattern, and chests in these levels also give you loot in the form of gear and money. One more mechanic that was shown off was a discovery/vision ability, which lets you spot which parts of the area are actually traps, and where you can safely walk.
Towns also got a bit of time in the spotlight as we saw characters doing things like cooking, crafting, and even alchemy at these different locations. Perhaps there are certain recipes or facilities locked to these towns which you can unlock through gameplay.
■ Evil Castle and Mirror Wars Game Mode
And finally, the trailer then showed off the Evil Castle, a mode where you explore a castle filled with traps and hazards as you battle enemies clad in dark armour. Since this is a unique mode it likely has a set of rewards you can unlock either once, or maybe even repeatedly.
The trailer also showed off a bit of the Mirror Wars game mode, which appears to be a PVP-type mode with you fighting against another player’s team, with you still being able to command your units to attack.
