SNK’s hallmark fighting game title, The King Of Fighters XV revealed that the ever-underdog, Shingo Yabuki would be added to the game as the first Season 2 DLC character to launch on January 17. The title update will also coincide with numerous balancing changes to the game spanning the entire roster.
Shingo in the trailer can be seen performing some of the iconic movesets he’s learned throughout the series displaying his distinct fighting style that mimics series protagonist Kyo Kusanagi. From soaring kicks, haymakers, headbutts, and even replicating Kyo’s super Orochinagi minus the flames. Whether it’s flying through the air with Shingo Kick or ending combos with him faceplanting into the dirt, Shingo makes up for his lack of supernatural abilities with raw passion!
The trailer also previewed what looked to be some character interactions seen in his story mode campaign, showing off some banter between Kyo and Ash Crimson.
▍The King of Fighters XV Season 2 DLC
SNK has also revealed that unlike the first season DLC characters for The King of Fighters XV, the Season 2 DLC will opt to add six individual fighters into the game, instead of simultaneously releasing three characters as part of a team.
The reveal trailer previewed two of the five remaining rosters to be added to The King of Fighters XV alongside Kim Kaphwan, arriving after Shingo in Summer. From what we can see in the infographic in the trailer, it appears that the cross-platform update for KOF XV will arrive after or possibly simultaneously with the launch of Kim Kaphwan in the Spring update!
▍Sylvie Paula Paula and Najd
The trailer also showed off Sylvie Paula Paula as well as Najd making a return from XIV. Though the two were only shown in what appears to be concept art stage visuals, Sylvie in particular seems to have had a change of costume design opting for a darker color scheme. Najd on the other hand was simply shown in her previous iteration, only showing off the final concept art used for her design in KOF14.
The remaining two mystery characters have been announced to arrive in Autumn, while the final fighter for the season will launch in Winter 2023. This time around the shown silhouettes seems to show distinct features of the character hidden. Can you figure out who they are?
The King of Fighters XV is currently available on PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
