One of the best in the Guilty Gear series, Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev 2 is finally getting the long-awaited Rollback Netcode update nearly 8 years after its release on January 20.
The rollback update will be rolled out on January 20 00:00 [PT] and 17:00 [JST]. Unfortunately the rollback netcode update seems like it’ll only be rolled out to PC players via Steam while the game is also availale on PS3 and PS4.
If you don’t know what rollback netcode is, essentially it’s a form of netcode designed for fighting games. In regions with higher latency, instead of delaying the game and slowing it down for everyone, the game will instead “rollback” the missing frames depending on latency, reversing the action back a few milliseconds to adjust the screen for both players.
This system’s been rolled out to several other fighting anime fighting games and has now become the standard, creating a near seamless online experience for players, and its great that Xrd Rev 2 is finally getting that treatment after BlazBlue, and Dragonball FighterZ.
