Endnight, developers behind the first-person survival horror multiplayer game Sons Of The Forest announced that rather than delay the game again, the game will be coming to PC via Steam as an early access title on February 23.
The game was previously delayed twice, with the game’s initial release being in May 2022 before being pushed back to October 2022, then pushed back again to February 23. It seems development on Sons Of The Forest isn’t going as smoothly as predicted even after its initial announcement in 2019. With the game being released in early access it’s fair to assume there will be some issues and possibly missing content as the issue was bad enough to warrant the game almost being delayed again.
▍About Sons of The Forest
Sons Of The Forest is a sequel to The Forest, a survival-horror multiplayer game released on May 30 2014 in early access, and stayed in Early Access for four years before it was finally released out of beta in 2018, then also released on PlayStation 4.
In the game, you follow a character on a helicopter owned by the Sahara corporation, and time is heading to “Site 2”, an area featured in the first game’s ending. While looking at your surroundings the helicopter is attacked by a cannibal being thrown at it from a giant, causing you to crash land on Site 2. Now you’ll have to survive on the island by finding, crafting, and using whatever you can on the island to fend off cannibals and make yourself a shelter.
Sons of The Forest improves upon the first game with new crafting mechanics, a more fleshed-out AI system, firearms, and even AI companions with Sahara corporation operatives also being present on the island.
