Pocky & Rocky, known in Japan as “Mysterious Ghost World: The Mysterious Black Mantle” (奇々怪界 謎の黒マント), is a scrolling shooter video game series on the SNES, originating with the 1986 arcade game of the same name developed by Taito.
After being defeated at the end of the original title, series antagonist Black Mantle travels back in time to get revenge on the duo heroes, Pocky the shrine maiden and Rocky the tanuki.
The game can be played in a single-player or shared-screen coop, with three additional characters swapping in for some action, outside of the titular duo. With 8 stages of high-paced shooting action, you’ll have your hands full with creepy enemies, big bosses, and lots of twists and turns!
New to the series is the addition of the “Extra Easy” difficulty, which can be unlocked by collecting a certain amount of coins from defeating enemies in the game.
Upon beating the game once and collecting enough coins, players can unlock “Free Mode” which allows you to choose a character freely regardless of story progression and exciting between-level cutscenes.
