Rohan Au Louvre will open in theaters nationwide in Japan on May 26, 2023. Set in the Louvre in France, the film follows Rohan as he pursues the mystery of the blackest and evilest painting in the world.
▍About Rohan Au Louvre
Rohan Au Louvre, known in English as Rohan at the Louvre, is an original manga created by Hirohiko Araki for the Louvre art museum, during the 2009 exhibit The Louvre invites the Comics. The manga was the first piece exhibited and then published by the Musée du Louvre Editions. This work precedes the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan series by about eight years.
The story follows Kishibe Rohan as the narrator, before asking the reader “Have you ever seen the blackest color in all the world?” a question he links to an incident at the Louvre where four people reportedly vanished at the museum. Through a series of flashbacks and current events, Rohan remembers a young woman he once had a crush on named Nanase Fujikura, who tells him the story of a cursed painting that was eventually sold to the Louvre.
Rohan then goes on a journey to the Louvre where he encounters a mystery behind the painting, and the Louvre’s insistence on keeping the painting despite the dangers it poses.
