Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is Upgraded with Class Illustrations, Graphics, System Improvements, and More


Atlus has revealed new details about its upcoming dungeon-crawling RPG Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection, which is scheduled for release globally on June 1 for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is a set of HD remastered versions of the first three titles in the Etrian Odyssey series. The game will launch at a price of JPY$8,980 in Japan. The digital versions will also be sold separately for JPY$4,467 for each.


In the HD remastered version, new illustrations by character designer Yuji Hinata were added to each class, for a total of 24 illustrations in the three titles. Players will be able to choose from five different illustrations for each class.

In addition, game system improvements like difficulty selection, map creation mode, and enhanced auto-mapping functionality have made the game easier to play.

As previously announced, preordering Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection rewards players with cosmetic DLCs that can be accessed for each game of the trilogy, allowing you to change the appearance of any adventurer of your liking to other characters from ATLUS’s numerous catalogs.

The Character Portrait DLC set 1 will have Joker from Persona 5 Royal and Ringo from Soul Hackers 2. Set 2 has Demi-fiend from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Teddie from Persona 4 Golden. Set 3 has Nahobino from Shin Megami Tensei V and Aigis from Persona 3 Portable.

HD remastering brings back vivid graphics

The graphics have been enhanced in HD from the original versions released on Nintendo DS.

The dungeons have been rendered with even greater precision, and all the illustrations of the characters, facilities and monsters that populate the adventure have been reworked to bring the world of that time to life even more vividly.

In addition, the battle effects have been brushed up to provide a more realistic battle experience.

Easy-to-play system interface

Additional difficulty levels

There are three difficulty levels to choose from: Picnic for beginners, Basic for casual adventures, and Expert for experienced adventurers (the original difficulty level). You can change the difficulty level from the options menu even while playing, so you can enjoy your adventure on your favorite difficulty level.

Choice of Map Creation Modes

Both “touch map creation” and “controller map creation” are supported. Detailed settings are available from the options menu, so you can draw a map in the way that suits your hand best.

Auto-mapping is more comfortable

The auto-mapping function has been enhanced with a new mode that automatically records the floors and walls you walk on. This will help adventurers who are mapping for the first time.

Additional save slots

The number of save slots has been increased to nine. Explore the labyrinth with various parties and record more stories.

More freedom in character makeup

Adventurers can now choose their appearance from other professions. Create your own adventurers without being restricted by occupation, and explore the labyrinth with your own party.

Party status check function

During the battle, you can now check the status of all members of your party as a list. Quickly check the status and prepare for your next move.

Dictionary function added

A Dictionary function has been added to view enemy information during battle. Plan your strategy well and fight against the enemy.

Support for online play of Grand Voyage Quest

Now you can do the Grand Voyage Quest and trade with other adventurers from all over the country. Enjoy interacting with various adventurers on the wide open sea. (Etrian Odyssey III HD only)

New Variations of Occupation Illustrations

In the games, players themselves assign occupations to adventurers, and as they develop their skills, they will be able to utilize their specialties to advance in the adventure.
