Taking place less than half a year after Trails of Cold Steel IV, the Crossbell SSS led by Lloyd Bannings has successfully ousted the imperial forces from Crossbell. Just as everyone was beginning to celebrate the re-independence ceremony, it’s interrupted by Rufus Albaraea, the former governor of crossbill who overpowers the SSS causing them to retreat once again, plunging the country into turmoil.
Now Lloyd, Rean Schwarzer, and a mysterious figure masked liberation leader called “C” fight again to save Crossbell from the hands of tyranny, to finally bring peace once and for all.
Trails into Reverie is a turn-based 3D RPG, where players can move their characters across the field while performing a multitude of commands and actions, while also having to take into account damage ratings as certain weapons will deal more damage to certain armor types, based on slash, pierce, blunt, and shot ratings.
Returning from previous entries is Orbal Arts, commands that can be accessed from equipping Quartz to deal devastating amounts of damage and effects on enemies, quickly shifting the tide of battle.
Outside of beating specific items, certain characters can also execute their own character-specific skill called Crafts, allowing them to fulfill a variety of roles and options in battle, weakening certain enemies and giving each character their own specialization.
Introduced from Trails of Azure, players can also equip Master Quartz, unique forms of quartz that can be slotted into the center of an orbment, granting a character unique abilities and stats to further incentivise, and push them towards certain playstyles.
And finally with a game that has so many characters, of course, Team Attacks have to be a thing, as you can now execute team attacks with several party members, even up to 8 characters at a time to dish out massive pain, and see the culmination of these character’s growth into a perfect team.
