At today’s Xbox Games Showcase Extended, Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks announced that Hi-Fi Rush is getting a major update titled Arcade Challenge on July 5 as the game is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The new update adds new cosmetics, as well as two new modes to augment the experience of the game.

▍ Hi-Fi Rush – BPM Rush & Power Up! Tower Up! Mode
Through the hideout’s arcade machine, Chai will be able to access two new game modes. The first mode is called BPM Rush. In this mode, waves of enemies will continue to spawn, and as you defeat them, the music will gradually increase its beats per minute. As you defeat each wave and tackle toughened-up new foes, you can go up to 200 beats per minute! Can you manage to keep your rhythm in this fast-paced BPM challenge?
The second mode is Power Up! Tower Up!, which is a twist on the Rhythm Tower mode that players unlock after their first playthrough. In this mode, you’ll be climbing up floors and defeating waves of enemies, but this time you’ll be powering up a downgraded Chai with randomized Upgrades! New tough enemies will also join the fray! Plan your battles strategically and get to the top in Hi-Fi Rush!
By completing these modes, you can get special abilities such as Cnmaniac and My Hero, which allow CNMN and Smidge to join Chai in combat and deal duo moves together! There might be even a reward that lets Chai take on a low-polygon form…?
▍ New Cosmetics, Photo Mode Filters, and More
As many as 808 outfits and cosmetics are also coming to the game as part of the update. This includes shirts for Chai, accessories, Korsica costumes, photo mode filters, and photo mode poses. Difficulty options will also be present so everyone can try out the new modes. If you already finished the game, now there’s more content for you to enjoy!
