Square Enix has shared the Final Trailer for its “friendship-bonding simulation adventure” game Ketsugou Danshi: Elements with Emotions ahead of its soon-approaching release date of June 29 for the Nintendo Switch in Japan. The game is also heading to mobile devices later at an unknown date in Summer.
The latest trailer shows new visuals found in the full game, notably featuring a previously not seen character standing over collapsed Shikenkans. The strange man asks (assumedly) the player if they “remember a world after everything is destroyed” leaving the question of if he is a friend or foe a mystery.
In Ketsugou Danshi, Players will bond with the Shikenkan – boys that wield the periodic table elements in the game, as the world ends in 50 days. The player takes on the role of a mediator who has to create various chemical reactions by combining the power of the Shikenkan and fighting against the enemy force.
The game reportedly features up to 45 routes and 90 endings, with four characters released together with the base game and an additional six characters to be added later after release as paid DLC. Pair off the roster of up to 10 Shikenkans and see how they bond together and reach different routes depending on choices, actions, and outcomes.
▍Ketsugou Danshi Gameplay
The title is segmented into three separate parts described by the developer as the “Adventure Part”, “Action Part”, and “Battle Part”. As the mediator to the various Shikenkans, players will be tasked with managing, socializing, and duking out against enemies. After going through each phase once, the player and the boys will come up against a boss encounter that will test the team’s might and bond.
Building healthy chemistry between each Shikenkan member of your team requires an understanding of their character and see who and who will pair well together. Synergies will result in stronger overall team power, making otherwise insurmountable encounters possible. Discovering the various chemical reactions is part of the fun.
Battle in the game is kept relatively simple, as the game opts for an auto-battler format. Each Shikenkan will perform elemental reactions according to who they are paired with, and who they are most bonded to.
