During today’s Nintendo Direct, Marvelous and XSEED revealed a new JRPG Silent Hope that is slated to launch on October 3, 2023, for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
Silent Hope unfolds an epic tale of a once-thriving kingdom silenced by a runaway king, leaving the princess trapped in her own crystallized tears. This isometric dungeon-crawler game features seven unique heroes drawn toward the trapped princess. Their mission is to brave the infinite abyss known as The Abyss, find the lost king, and free the princess.
Combining classic dungeon-crawling elements with a modern approach, the game offers unpredictability with randomized layouts in each journey into The Abyss, escalating risks, and a home base for crafting and cooking. Its storybook aesthetic brings the fairytale to life, encapsulating the mysteries of the visually stunning underworld.

Set in a world devoid of speech, Silent Hope is an isometric dungeon-crawler that marries traditional gameplay with a modern approach. Players will step into the shoes of seven unique heroes, each wielding distinct weapons, fighting styles, and trade skills. The game unfolds in a land that was once peaceful until its king stole the power of speech and fled to the endless chasm known as The Abyss.
The princess, burdened by her father’s actions, wept until her tears crystallized, imprisoning her in a luminous shell. Now, years later, the seven heroes are drawn towards the princess and must venture into The Abyss to find the long-lost king and restore the royal family.
The heroes’ journey into The Abyss serves as the central gameplay element in Silent Hope. After battling enemies and gathering materials in The Abyss, heroes return to the Base Camp to craft, cook, and prepare for the next adventure. The Abyss’s randomized layouts ensure each journey is unique, with greater dangers awaiting the further the heroes venture.

■ Wanderer – Weapons: Sword & Shield
Side Job: Any
A versatile combatant who wields a sword and shield. He’s a jack of all trades and master of none at base camp. Whenever one of his comrades leaves to explore the Abyss, he takes over the responsibilities of their facility.
■ Warrior – Weapons: Greatsword
Side Job: Blacksmith
Wields two-handed weapons to deliver slow but devastating attacks, and absorbs more hits than her companions. She’s a craftswoman who happily spends her days at base camp creating arms and armor for her fellow heroes.
■ Rogue – Weapons: Dual Blades
Side Job: Handicrafts
A maid by trade with many hidden talents. In battle, she takes advantage of stealth, status effects, and superior speed to catch her enemies off guard. At base camp, she crafts items of peerless quality for the group.
■ Archer – Weapons: Bow
Side Job: Ranching
A hunter who has an affinity for animals. He brandishes his bow to shoot foes from a distance and nimbly dodges most attacks heading his way. At base camp, he takes care of the group’s livestock.

Side Job: Agriculture
A farmer that uses abilities that buff herself and weaken enemies. She can also call upon small animals to aid her in combat. At base camp, she tends a tiny farm, growing yummy fruits and vegetables that the whole group can enjoy.

A fighter who satisfies the group’s bellies with amazing meals. She isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty in the kitchen or battlefield. This glass cannon mows her enemies down with fast, powerful attacks.

A world-class alchemist. He chooses to fight from afar by casting powerful spells and teleporting away from danger. He’s always eager to synthesize new materials for the group using his cauldron back at base camp.

The former ruler of a peaceful, prosperous kingdom. When a series of natural disasters led to widespread unrest, turning his subjects against each other, he responded by robbing them of speech and leaping into the Abyss. No one has seen him since…

A mysterious, kind-hearted young woman encased in a giant crystal. When seven strangers suddenly show up, drawn to her side by seven strange lights, she asks them to brave the Abyss and find the King.
