Japanese developer coly is launching a crowdfunding campaign for the Nintendo Switch version of its previous voice-actor training smartphone game On Air! The campaign is hoping to secure the required funding to kickstart the development of the game planned for the Spring 2024 release.
It will run on the Soreosu crowdfunding service from July 19 to August 31 with an initial funding goal set at JPY$15 million. Meeting this target would ensure the development of a Nintendo Switch version of the game, featuring the original home screen, main story, and voiced side stories, along with new scenarios. Stretch goals have also been outlined, with each subsequent funding milestone of JPY $20, $30, and $40 million, promising further features and enhancements.
The On Air! team is enticing prospective backers with a range of rewards, varying with contribution amounts. These include character message emails, character merchandise, newly drawn illustrations, and a place for the backer’s name in the Nintendo Switch game’s staff roll. Special rewards for higher contribution tiers include a photo book featuring all event story SSR card class upgrade illustrations and life-sized panels with hand-signed, original illustrations.
▍What is On Air!?
The development team behind On Air!, previously a smartphone game for voice actor training, has announced their plans to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch. The decision comes in response to the unwavering support of the dedicated community, despite the app’s operations ending in October 2020.
Developed by Coly, On Air! was a smartphone game available from August 16, 2018, to October 30, 2020. The game offered players the chance to become special students at the prestigious Hōseki-gaoka Academy. The goal was to save the academy from a crisis alongside a vibrant cast of 29 aspiring voice actors and one teacher.

On Air! for Nintendo Switch aims to deliver the same experience with new elements and upgrades. The team has announced an array of content, including a main story, side stories, event stories, character stories, and more, all promising to provide a vibrant and immersive gameplay experience for fans of the original game.
In appreciation of their supporters, the On Air! team also plans to send out rewards featuring original illustrations to the backers once the project’s funding goal is achieved.
▍On Air! for Nintendo Switch Crowdfunding Goals
– JPY $15,000,000
Upon reaching this target, the development of On Air! for Nintendo Switch is confirmed. The team plans to implement various content, including main stories, side stories, event stories, off-record stories, character stories, and spot talks, along with a home screen, home voices, and a new story. Voice implementation will occur for main stories, side stories, and home-related elements. Additionally, seasonal voices and birthday voices are also planned.
– JPY $20,000,000
Achievement of this goal will see the implementation of character story voices to the already confirmed contents from the previous milestone.
– JPY $30,000,000
At this point, the team will include all voices from the original app version, as well as a full-voice unit story DLC.
– JPY $40,000,000
Once this milestone is reached, previously unrecorded event story voices will be recorded and the “On Air! 3rd Anniversary Store” limited scenario will be remade and recorded for the Switch version.
If funding surpasses expectations, the development team will consider additional stretch goals and rewards for their backers.

The Nintendo Switch version will be available in special, regular, and download editions. Pricing is set as follows:
- Special Edition: JPY $18,480
- Regular Edition: JPY $7,480
- Download Edition: JPY $7,480
The prices for DLC are still under consideration and will be announced at a later date. The release date for both the Nintendo Switch version and the DLC is planned for Spring 2024.
▍On Air! for Nintendo Switch Crowdfunding Backer Rewards
Rewards for backers are limited to this crowdfunding campaign, with the exception of the special edition for Nintendo Switch. Backers can secure their rewards upon the achievement of the initial goal of JPY $15M. Backers who contribute enough to have their name included in the game’s staff roll can specify a different name for each reward they secure.
– Email Course: For JPY$550, backers can enjoy an interactive experience with a personalized message from one of 30 characters, sent directly to their email.
– Club Activity Group Goods Course: Priced JPY$3,300, this package extends the interaction. Backers will receive a personalized character message as with the Email Course, plus tangible character goods. One item can be selected from the assortment of 12 club activity patterns, all in card type.
– Tweet Collection & Unit A3 Cloth Poster Course: For JPY$22,000, backers receive a character-specific mini canvas board and their choice of character goods, mirroring the Club Activity Group Goods Course. This tier also offers a tweet collection with a fresh character comment. Additionally, backers can choose their favorite unit for an A3 cloth poster. Their name will also appear in the staff roll of the Nintendo Switch version.
– Letter & Group A2 Cloth Poster Course: At the same price of JPY $22,000, this tier also includes the character mini canvas board and character goods from the previous packages. However, it swaps out the tweet collection for a character letter, signed by hand, with the backer choosing one from 30 characters. An A2 cloth poster will also be received, this time featuring a group picture of all 30 characters. As with the previous tier, the participant’s name is included in the staff roll of the Nintendo Switch version.
– Photo Book Course: Also for JPY$22,000, this package offers a photobook displaying all illustrations of the event story SSR cards after class-up. Like previous courses, the participant’s name is listed in the staff roll of the Nintendo Switch version.
– Nintendo Switch Special Edition & Tweet Collection & Unit A3 Cloth Poster Course: For JPY$38,500, backers will receive all features of the Tweet Collection & Unit A3 Cloth Poster Course. In addition, a Nintendo Switch Special Edition will also be included.
– Nintendo Switch Special Edition & Letter & Group A2 Cloth Poster Course: At the same price of JPY$38,500, this tier mirrors the Letter & Group A2 Cloth Poster Course, with the addition of the Nintendo Switch Special Edition.
– Nintendo Switch Special Edition & Photo Book Course: For JPY$38,500, this course includes the Nintendo Switch Special Edition and all features of the Photo Book Course.
– Nintendo Switch Special Edition & Life-Size Panel Course: This top-tier package is priced at JPY$220,000. Backers will receive a life-size panel featuring an original illustration and complete with a serial number and hand-written signature. Also included is the Nintendo Switch Special Edition. Their name will feature in a special size, on the staff roll of the Nintendo Switch version.
Funds from this campaign will be allocated to porting and development costs for the Nintendo Switch version; guarantee, studio, and editing fees for voice recording for the Nintendo Switch version; production costs for goods, and other expenses, including handling fees and shipping costs for goods.
