Overwatch 2 is Coming to Steam on August 10, with More Blizzard Entertainment Games Coming Soon

Blizzard Entertainment announced that the PC versions of its team-based hero shooter Overwatch 2 will be coming to Steam on August 10.

The company also hinted at more games coming to Steam revealed through its blog post “As far as what’s next for Blizzard on Steam, we’ll be sharing more about potential other games coming to the platform when the time is right.” Players looking to play Overwatch 2 will still need to connect Steam to a Battle.net account as this allows cross-platform play, and Steam users will also have access to achievements and the Steam friend list.

This announcement comes right after an investor’s report from Blizzard, stating that the Overwatch League has severely underperformed making up less than 1% of consolidated revenue, and that it is offering teams USD$6,000,000 to terminate their contract with the Overwatch league.

About Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 is a competitive team-based FPS game developed by Activision Blizzard and a sequel to the original title released in 2016. The game retains the game’s team-based objective formats with players taking on the role of heroes, each with unique weapons and abilities at their disposal in 5v5 combat.

The game maintains a cartoonish and almost Disney-like aesthetic to its characters and was originally revealed to be a PvE Co-op shooter while still maintaining its PvP component in 2019, but plans for that mode have been scrapped in favor of shorter bursts of PvE content released seasonally.
