Following up on the finale of Netflix’s original Castlevania animated series back in 2021, the animated sequel Castlevania: Nocturne has released a new teaser confirming its worldwide premiere date on the streaming service on September 28.
The extended trailer briefly previews series protagonist Richter Belmont (Voiced by Edward Bluemel) and his quest to take on the elite order of vampires that seek to manipulate the French Revolution to their gain. The preview also showcased how Richter will also be joined by magic users Maria Renard (Voiced by Pixie Davies) and Anette (Voiced by Thuso Mbedu) in taking on the creatures of the night.
Drawing primary inspiration from the PC-Engine title Rondo of Blood and its PSX sequel Symphony of the Night, the new animated adaptation sets itself in 1792, during the French Revolution with Richter Belmont as the protagonist. Taking place several hundred years in the future from its predecessor, Richter is joined by fellow vampire hunter Maria Renard to face a new threat.
Castlevania Nocturne is led by showrunner Kevin Kolde with writer and creator Clive Bradley. The show is produced by Project 51 Productions, with production services by Powerhouse Animation, both of which were also responsible for the previous animated series streaming on Netflix.

In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and night creatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, the last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.
