Nippon Ichi Software’s PS2 SRPG title Disgaea (魔界戦記ディスガイア) is making a mobile spin-off, Makai Wars (魔界ウォーズ), originally for release this year; however, the developer announced today that they wouldn’t be able to deliver it on time.
Nippon Ichi said the decision was made to enhance product quality. The latest schedule is 2018 Spring.
Makai Wars is a joint project with Clover Lab’s mobile game Yurudorashiru (ゆるドラシル). First revealed as a PSP title in E3 in 2003, it was later decided for PS3 – but again it never came out. It was until July this year that the title got revived as a mobile game.
The coming Makai Wars for mobile is a 2D SLG featuring 3D characters. Players will have to form a team consisting of Disgaea and Yurudorashiru characters for battles held on a 6×5 grid.
Pre-registration is not yet available.
