Japanese classic superhero television series Ultraman (ウルトラマン) has had multiple TV drama and live action movies produced since the sixties. Although two original video animations were made in the nineties, it has never had a long running anime series. Finally, a formal anime series is being produced for release in 2019. It is an adaption of the manga of the same title, which is illustrated by Eiichi Shimizu (清水栄一) and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (下口智裕).
Manga Ultraman has been running in Monthly Hero since 2011. It is an official sequel to the drama series.
An era where Ultraman is no longer here and heroes no longer exist. Shinjiro Hayata possesses a special power passed to him by his father, the legendary Ultraman Shin Hayata. He has no knowledge of his father’s true identity, and yet this power has led him to become a true hero.
The 3DCG anime is currently directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) and Shinji Aramaki (Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars) at Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts.
An anime site has been launched.
