Cells at Work! (はたらく細胞), a manga series about personified human cells, previously released an animated promotional CM that made fans suspect an anime series was coming. Today, the rumor is finally confirmed!
In the first official anime trailer which shares scenes from the manga promotional video, various cells including the protagonist – a red blood cell called AE3803, are introduced. Their voice actors are yet to be confirmed.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure’s director Kenichi Suzuki is directing the anime at david production. The script is written by Orange’s screenwriter Yuko Kakihara. The design is done by Macross Delta’s supervising animator Takahiko Yoshida.
TV anime Cells at Work! will arrive in July 2018.
Written by Akane Shimizu (清水茜) and serialised on Monthly Shonen Sirius since 2015, Cell at Work! is about the daily life of various personified human cells and how they work. The series currently has five volumes. Over 1.5 million of copies have been sold.
