First an anime movie made in 2007, manga series Piano no Mori (ピアノの森) will have a TV anime series air in April 2018. Today, the cast information is released along with a few visuals.
Saito Soma has been cast as the protagonist Kai Ishinose. Natsuki Hanae is cast as Kai’s friend and competitor, Shuhei Amamiya. Kai’s teacher Sosuke Ajino is portrayed by Junichi Suwabe. Young Kai and Shuhei are played by Ryoko Shiraishi and Yo Taichi respectively.
It is currently directed by Manabu Nakatani at Gainax.
▍Story
The manga Piano no Mori: The Perfect World of Kai by Makoto Isshiki (一色まこと) was published between 1998 and 2015 in Weekly Morning magazine. The story follows Kai Ishinose, a boy who plays an abandoned piano that cannot make a sound in a forest. This piano leads him to cross fate with Shuhei Amamiya, a soon-to-be pianist who becomes his best friend and also competitor, and Sosuke Ajino, an ex-pianist who owns the abandoned piano and discovers Kai’s talent.
