CoMix Wave, the animation studio behind director Makoto Shinkai’s famous works such as Your Name, is making a new anime movie Shiki Oriori (詩季織々) in homage to 5 Centimeters per Second, which is another classic by Shinkai.
CoMix Wave has joined hands with Shanghai-based studio Haoliners Animation League for this project. The story is composed of three short stories set in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, and with topics on youth and memories.
The movie is currently directed by Yoshitaka Takeuchi, Zhenxing Yi and Haoling Li. It is scheduled to release in Japan in 2018 Spring.
