Japanese Gamer Reaction:
“How come no one is interested in the game?”
“The pace is so slow… Don’t want to play after a few matches.”
“After a while, you realize it’s just another gacha game.”
The concept of this game is quite unique. The gameplay resembles watching an actual football match take place and at key moments of the game, players will be able to control their team’s actions. Just looking at the concept alone, the game is quite fun. Unfortunately, for a mobile game, the pace is too slow, making it somewhat grueling at times. The imbalance between characters in the game also makes it hard to keep playing.
▍Blockuzu Project
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“None of the characters below 4-Star is useful.”
“So many bugs, but considering it’s a small developer, not bad.”
“There were too many problems with the game at launch, it wasn’t well promoted, the UI looks 5 years old, it’s normal that no one really plays it.”
On the day the game was released, the game was riddled with bugs, leaving a few negative feedbacks to the game. In all honesty, the game isn’t entirely bad. A combination of the classic block busters gameplay mixed with the collectible monsters of Monster Strike. Since the game does test player’s individual skill, the game comes across quite well, but strength difference between characters are too great and the lack of change in boss fight makes the game seem incomplete at times. Hopefully, the game will be improved further in the future.
▍Gourmet Kizuna (Tentative)
Gamer Reactions:
“Characters are well designed, and the theme is interesting.”
“The content is pretty rich, the combination of combat and simulation makes it quite unique.”
“The low rates typically just give you shards, you can get UR characters from events, but you’ll be playing for a long time!”
This game sells a unique theme which combines character raising with restaurant simulation. Asides from running their restaurant, players can also enjoy the collectible RPG gameplay. The character designs include bishonen and bishojou, clearly an attempt to sell to both male and female gamers. As a Chinese game, the game is seriously not bad. Definitely worth a shot.
▍Soul of Heroes
Gamer Reactions:
“Great game! Looking forward to more new characters.”
“The game is alright, the graphics aren’t bad, but the English translations are pretty bad…”
“Too much stuff you need to pay for…”
A typical Korean mobile game which doesn’t really do much to spice up the system. The main selling point is the graphics and the English availability. The game is quite well received in the west, but personally, I’d rather go back to Seven Knights.
▍InterPlanet
Gamer Reactions:
“The pilots are so cool!”
“Feels great watching the base grow in space.”
“The in-game chat has people from all over the world talking.”
Imagine Clash of Clans set in space, that is pretty much what InterPlanet is. However, the game does a great job in creating an immersive atmosphere for players. The game has a rich space exploration theme. The ship and building designs are also quite exceptional. Watching fleet after fleets of ships flying out is quite satisfying for sci-fi fans.
▍Trinity Master
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“Why not play Brown Dust.”
“The game’s system is quite good, cost and recovery need more balance, you can’t generate a diverse amount of Units.”
“The rarest flying characters are too strong!”
Different from other Square Enix titles, players play as a hero whose role is more like a commander, summoning units when you have sufficient mana to attack enemies. Players can control their hero’s action to attack personally. The game isn’t bad, but the imbalance makes it hard to keep playing. If you are going to play, be sure to re-roll for the top tier flying unit “ロゼッタ”!
▍Brown Dust
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“Easy re-roll marathon, the game is interesting, one of the worthier games that are current.”
“The game is quite interesting, but I hope they fix the gacha.”
“I fused 2 4-star characters and got a golden slime (lol)!”
Originally a Korean game, the Live2D characters are made incredibly well. The game is a turn-based tactical game where players must set the formation of their team for each battle according to their opponent. The game’s balance is quite well and the gameplay is quite casual. Definitely one of a must try this week.
▍Last Epic
Japanese gamer Reactions:
“Just the fact that re-roll marathon is easy makes me want to keep playing.”
“Your typical everyday Chinese game, the graphics is the only positive point.”
“The game’s combat gave me a fright, just how old is this game?!”
Japanese character designs, but the core of the game is a typical Chinese shard-based game. The game’s system has nothing surprising, asides from the combat and the character models in the combat sequence which is… surprisingly bad?
