Team Shutetsu’s Struggle to Score

18061410423258

As the game continues in the first-halve, team Shutetsu faces a whole new set of challenges against Nankatsu. The rest of the players that make up team Nankatsu push their skills to the limit to stop the all-star players from reaching Tsuabasa’s line of defense. In this scene, there’s far more focus on the individual players as opposed to the manga where the spotlight shines on Tsubasa and Wakabayashi. Each player is more determined than ever to stop Nankatsu in their tracks and close the gap against Nankatsu.

Taro: The Master Analyzer

Captain Tsubasa

As the heated rivalry continues, Taro is busy analyzing Tsubasa’s strategy from the crowd. This entirely new scene in the anime depicts Taro carefully examining the reason why Tsubasa is playing defense and not forward against their rival, stating that Nankatsu wouldn’t have been a balanced team if coach Roberto hadn’t made the decision of keeping Tsubasa as their line of defense. This gives the players a boost in their confidence and moral to push themselves as they don’t have to rely entirely on Tsubasa for every play.

Taro’s Late Arrival

Captain Tsubasa

Throughout episode six and seven in the anime, Taro has been present since the start of the match. In the manga, he makes an appearance before the end of the first-halve of the match. As he enters the stadium to look for the principal of Nankatsu elementary, he is immediately surprise at what he witnesses. He instantly sets his eyes right at both the all-star players from the rivalry elementary schools, Genzo Wakabayashi and Tsubasa Ozora. Completely awed at their skill and for the first time catching a glimpse at the boy he was very much curious about throughout his journey to Japan.
