Earlier last week, on 11th July, SEGA has announced that on 12th July, they have filed a lawsuit against MorningTec Japan for copyright infringement.
According to the company’s announcement, Sega is now suing MorningTec Japan on claims that Morning Tec Japan’s latest mobile title “Abyss Horizon” infringes on the copyrights of Sega’s KanColle Arcade (艦これ アーケード), which violates Japan’s Unfair Competition Prevention Act. Sega stresses that they “acknowledge the amount of time, effort, and money invested in creating the game” and that they will “treat these cases more seriously in the future.”

In response, Abyss Horizon issued official announcements on both their official website and their official Twitter account pointing out that Sega and C2 have no evidence that Abyss Horizon directly imitates Sega’s KanColle Arcade. MorningTec Japan hopes to come to an agreement to resolve this issue with Sega and C2 and expresses that it is a shame that the lawsuit came after the game’s launch.
