We have been preparing for Halloween since last week! Beside a Halloween game column on our app’s “Featured” page, we also had a #AnimeDeath poll that got everyone in the mood.
We asked everyone what the worst anime death of the year is, and about 1,700 of you voted! Seems like our users enjoy the grotesque and dark side of anime. ?
It is definitely NOT a surprise that almost 50% voters chose “molested/raped and killed by goblins” as the worst death of 2018. Judging from reactions online, Goblin Slayer really has otaku hooked with its first episode in which a few explorers die horribly. What’s worse is that the girl raped by disgusting Gobins is scarred for life…

There is something common about otaku – we escape to anime from the cruel reality. So when Zero 2 sacrifices herself for the rotten humanity, fans feel completely empty and lost. How can a precious, frank girl die while the selfish ones survive? We watch anime for happiness, but this anime left us only sadness. Zero 2’s death is definitely worth being placed third!
Eaten by titans is actually close to the one above as being the worst death. Imagine being bitten by a titan, having your legs torn off, travelling through his gullet, and waiting to die eventually at his stomach – This is absolutely hell.
Here comes the last one. Perhaps psychopaths can be cool and handsome like Zack, so people are not that scared?
