Based on the upcoming PS4 video game, Project Sakura Wars/ Shin Sakura Taisen (新サクラ大戦) announced a TV anime coming on 2020 during a Sega stage event today (13th September) at Tokyo Game Show 2019.
The event, which featured the game producer Tetsu Katano (片野 徹) and series producer Takaharu Terada (寺田 貴治), delivered the good news, following the new release of the video game, Project Sakura Wars on December 12 in Japan and in Spring 2020 in the west.
Sword Art Online: Alicization director Manabu Ono will direct the anime and write the script together with Tatsuhiko Urahata (浦 畑 達 彦) at Sanzigen, based on the original work of Oji Hiroi (廣井 照久).
A new trailer of the anime was also revealed, showcasing the all-female members of the Imperial Combat Revue’s Flower Division. The story sets in the Taishō period, while the main protagonist Seijuro Kamiyama (神山 誠十郎) becomes the new leader of the team.
