The TV anime adaptation of Akane Shimizu’s (清水茜) cells anthropomorphized manga “Cells at Work!” (はたらく細胞) announced that its second season will return in January 2021. A special theatrical anime is also confirmed to premiere on 5th September 2020 in Japan.

▍Story
The story takes place inside the human body, where trillions of anthropomorphic cells each do their job to keep the body healthy. The series largely focuses on two such cells; a rookie red blood cell, AE3803, who often gets lost during deliveries, and a relentless white blood cell, U-1146, who fights against any germs that invade the body.
▍Staff and Production
The main staff at David Production is returning for producing the second season, with the exception of director Kenichi Suzuki (鈴木 健一) being replaced by director Hirofumi Ogura (小倉宏文). Other returning staff includes Yuuko Kakihara (柿原優子) series composition and Takahiko Yoshida (吉田隆彦) as character designer.
