▍About “Wizardry”
“Wizardry” is a series of role-playing video games, developed by Sir-Tech, that were highly influential in the evolution of modern role-playing video games. The original “Wizardry” was released in 1981 under the title “Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord”. The game was one of the first Dungeons & Dragons-style role-playing games to be written for computer play, and the first such game to offer color graphics. It was also the first true party-based role-playing video game.
The original “Wizardry” series is composed of eight different titles. The last game in the original series by Sir-Tech was “Wizardry 8,” released in 2001.
In 1996, the series received the first spin-off developed in North America, titled “Wizardry Nemesis”. As of 2017, thirty-nine different spin-offs were released in Japan.
