Based off the classic Little Red Riding Hood, Korokoro ōkami to Akazukin ~ Dōwa no Sekai de Ran Gēmu ~ (コロコロオオカミと赤ずきん ~童話の世界でランゲーム~), is a cutesy running game that combines the core essence of Temple Run with elements from Mario Cart.
The basis of the game is to help Little Red Riding Hood escape from her granny atop a giant rolling wolf through a seemingly endless track. Other than avoiding obstacles, players will have to collect coins which helps the player rank up and unlock new skins for your over-sized wolf "mount".
The game currently features 3 zones, each based off a different fairy tale. Initially players will go through a forest with a Little Red Riding Hood theme, gradually unlocking a Alice in Wonderland theme and finally a Hansel & Gretel theme stage.
Thoughts
The game set its difficulty quite well. The first stage starts off quite easy and gradually gets more challenging which makes it quite addictive. Upon reaching a new zone, the game introduces new obstacles and items which keeps things fresh.
Of course, at the end of the day, the game is still just a casual game without a lot of content, but just like Temple Run and other running games, when you start playing it ignites something within you that makes to push yourself harder to break your previous record. Although the meaning eludes me, at the end of each run you can read a report card grading you on collision rate, run duration and coin combo.
Although the new skins you can unlock for your wolf doesn’t have any special effects like making you go faster, or increase your collect radius for coins, the delightful collection of different skin themes makes you want to collect them all. There are also three seemingly “rare” skins that you can unlock… but unfortunately they have been avoiding me.
