What is Knight Chronicle

Knight Chronicle is Netmarble’s latest mobile RPG which features a similar system to their iconic Seven Knights IP. The theme of Knights Chronicle revolves around reincarnation, and is presented to the players through the main story. Asides from the mains story players can farm materials in special dungeons and event dungeons, just like any other typical mobile RPGs. The game features a "Town" which includes different facilities that would help players including gold mines, Laboratories, Lottery and Guild Hall.

Similar to the "Seven Knights" in Seven Knights, Knights Chronicle has their own "White Knights" which seems to be stronger than your average heroes.

Let’s face it, the most important factor in mobile games is the "Auto" feature. Balancing between manual play and auto play is a defining factor to keeping players active. Too easy and players who want to enjoy the game themselves leave, overly manual will make players grow tired of farming. To solve this Knights Chronicle created a "Full Auto" mode and a "Semi Auto" for players to toggle between. Of course, for those who enjoy doing everything themselves, there’s also the default full manual mode. Full Auto, is just as its name describes, fully auto, it’s perfect for those grueling farming stages of the game. "Semi Auto" which allows players to queue skills if they want to, or leave everything up to the game’s AI.

The combat system is similar to Seven Knights, turn based and each turn allows players to choose between using normal attacks, skills or defend. However unlike Seven Knights, PvP in Knights Chronicle can be manually controlled. Building a team with skills and passives that synergize with each other will have a much greater impact.

Thoughts

Knights Chronicle art style and character designs seems to target the Japanese market specifically. The similarities it shares with Seven Knights is so overwhelming that it’s hard not to think Knights Chronicle is just a repackaged version of Seven Knights designed for the Japanese market. However, the small changes made to the play style, does in fact enhance certain elements, making it a decent alternative for those who enjoyed Seven Knights before.

One of the biggest problems with Seven Knights is that PvP is heavily dependent on new heroes. The ridiculous game breaking damage immune passives makes it impossible for players to climb the ranking ladder without the newest hero. Since Knights Chronicle is new, it’s still to early to determine whether or not the game will end up the same, but with the manually controlled PvP system, players can try different team compositions for more than one meta team, which personally I think is great.

A great thing about Knights Chronicle is how it supports both vertical and horizontal mode. This small-yet-distinctive feature allows you to play easily with both hands or with just one.

Start up Tips

Re-rolling is possible in this game. However, the game doesn’t allow duplicate names, which means if you’re planning to re-roll don’t use your usual gamer tag on your first account. If you did, or if you at any point decide you want to start fresh, each account can change their in game name/gamer tag once for free. With this you can just rename the account and start a new one with the same name.

Currently, each account will receive 200 diamonds when they start which allows a total of 11 draws (one single draw and one 10x draw) early on (including the first draw from the end of prologue). to re-roll simply uninstall and install the game again. Early on, Healers and tanks are not as useful, so personally I would recommend you roll for any of the “White Knights” or strong damage dealer types like rogues (for bosses) and mages (for fast progression). These will help you clear through the initial dungeons pretty easily. Whilst I would agree that getting only 5 star healers is a sign to re-roll, if you find yourself with a five star Osiris (オシリス) I would recommend keeping her since her auto attacks have a chance to sleep enemies (incredibly strong during PvP).

Once you’ve got a team you’re happy with, First thing to do is to focus on advancing in the main story. The currently on-going log-in bonuses and launch bonuses gives you quite a lot of free materials to level up your main characters giving you a good head start in the game.
