Nippon Ichi Software announced on December 16 that the Yomawari horror game series is getting a third instalment titled Yomawari 3, which will be released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on April 21, 2022 in Japan.
Yomawari is a survival horror video game series created and developed by Nippon Ichi Software, originally releasing on the PlayStation Vita and Steam and eventually releasing on other platforms.
Like its previous instalment, the story of Yomawari 3 involves a little girl, who wanders the streets at night in order to find something precious that has disappeared in the darkness. The developer promises more information in the coming months, and we’ll definitely keep you updated on that regard.
This is the third title in the series. The first title, Yomawari: Night Alone, was released in 2015 in Japan, and later globally on 2016. In the first game, a young girl is walking her dog Poro around town at dusk when suddenly, a tragic accident forces her to return home with only Poro’s leash in hand. Ignoring her sister’s warnings to not go out into the dark night, the young girl searches for her dog.
In its sequel, Yomawari: Midnight Shadows, released in 2017 in Japan, two young girls visit a mountain clearing to watch the evening fireworks to end their summer vacation on a high note. As night falls and the fireworks end, their hometown suddenly becomes enveloped in darkness. After being lunged by a mysterious shadow, the two girls find themselves lost in the dark.
