At the Anime Japan 2022 stage event, a new PV for the The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup anime was unveiled. The video reveals five new cast members, the theme songs, and the July premiere date for the anime.
YOSHIKI EZAKIx Bleecker Chrome performs the opening theme song “I can fly”, while the all-star cast of the anime performs the ending song “Dear Friend”.
Keiichiro Kawaguchi is returning from the last 2D anime, The Prince of Tennis II Hyotei vs Rikkai Game of Future, to direct the new series at Studio KAI and M.S.C, and Mitsutaka Hirota is back at it again supervising the scripts. Akiharu Ishii returns as the character designer and also as chief animation director.
The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup is the first anime for the franchise in ten years. The story will follow the events after The New Prince of Tennis OVA vs Genius10 original video animation series released in 2014. An untitled Nintendo Switch game of the series was also announced, but details are yet to be revealed.
