The JP official site of One Piece Odyssey has updated several screenshots introducing the game systems of this highly anticipated RPG, which is set to release in 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
As previously announced, the RPG will feature an original story and players can take on the role of nine of their favorite pirates, including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Franky, Sanji, Usopp, Nico Robin, Chopper, and Brook. Players will follow the Straw Hat Pirates to solve the mystery of a newly discovered island with a system that utilizes their unique actions and a command battle system.
▍One Piece Odyssey Game Systems
■ Embark on a thrilling adventure in the world of One Piece
In the adventure part of One Piece Odyssey, players can explore the environments and get past obstacles using the unique skills of the Straw Hat Pirates. Players will have to utilize the qualities of different characters, for example, Luffy’s rubber body or Frankie’s ability to improvise tools, in order to overcome the obstacles in your adventure.
■ An orthodox command-based game system
The game will also feature an original turn-based command battle system, where players take victory by using their favorite Straw Hat Pirates, and each character plays an active role in different situations.
■ Scramble Area Battle
When the battle starts, players can command the Straw Hat Pirates to move in the areas and decide their range of attack. Making full use of the features of each member is the key to victory.
■ Let’s have some drama!
Battles sometimes will trigger “dramatic scenes,” which are troubles that are unique to the One Piece series. Players who overcome these troubles will get a big bonus when the battle ends.
■ Use Kizuna Arts to wipe out enemies
If you meet certain conditions during the battle, you can use “Kizuna Arts”, a super powerful skill that unleashes by all the team members!
▍About One Piece Odyssey
One Piece Odyssey is a new RPG published by Bandai Namco that is set to release in 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Announced during a special One Piece live stream, the game is a project to celebrate the manga’s 25th anniversary. The new game promised to be an authentic and immersive new entry rooted in canon and sure to retain the humor and chemistry of the anime with Odai’s involvement and starring the original Japanese VO actors.
The game is developed by ILCA, who is known to develop Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and acted as support for other major games such as Ace Combat and Dragon Quest. The manga creator Eiichiro Oda is supervising and creates the original story of the game.
A new character, the cheerful and towering Adio, will also join the Straw Hat Crew in their latest adventure in the game.
