The new PlayStation Plus service is now available in Asia, excluding Japan. More regions will be added in the coming weeks, with Japan getting the service on June 2, North and South America on June 13, and finally, heading to Australia, New Zealand, and Europe on June 23.
A blog answering some questions about the new services was also posted, detailing how would the Game Trials function and work, as well as what will happen to current subscribers of the service.
▍PlayStation Plus Plan Migration
If you were previously subscribed to either PlayStation Plus or the PlayStation Now services, your subscription will be moved into the new service. If you had PlayStation Now, your sub will be moved into the Deluxe tier, while the Plus subscribers will be moved into the Essentials tier.
As mentioned previously, the Essentials Tier won’t change much from the Plus service fans have known since years ago, with a selection of free PS4 and PS5 monthly games, exclusive discounts, cloud storage for saved games, online multiplayer access, and more being kept as their benefits.
Deluxe members will be able to take advantage of their existing PS Now catalog and stream and/or download dozens of PS4 and PS3 games. The streaming service won’t be available in countries where PlayStation Now wasn’t available previously, however.
▍Game Trials
The most expensive Deluxe tier added a brand-new function called Game Trials, which lets players try out the latest hits for a limited time before deciding if they wish to purchase the game. Currently, blockbusters such as the Horizon Forbidden West game.
Trophies earned during your time-limited game trial through the PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe plan will remain on your PSN profile, even after you complete the trial and decide not to purchase the title.
Furthermore, the same applies to save data, where even if you start playing on a different console, data from the game trials are backed up and synced automatically in the cloud storage, and if you purchase any DLC, you can also use it without needing to buy the full game. To start a game trial, just head over to the PS Store, select the game you wish to try out, and then select Download Trial.
