A TV anime adaptation of Ghost Mikawa’s Gimai Seikatsu (Days With My Stepsister) light novel series has been greenlit! A teaser PV and main cast were also revealed for the announcement.
The cast from the previous promotional video of the light novels will return, which includes Kōhei Amasaki as Yuta Asamura, Yuki Nakashima as Saki Ayase, Minori Suzuki as Shiori Yomiuri, Daiki Hamano as Tomokazu Maru, and Ayu Suzuki as Narasaka Maaya. A celebration visual created by the novel’s illustrator Hiten was also revealed on the official Twitter.
▍About Gimai Seikatsu
Gimai Seikatsu is originally a Japanese mixed-media project created by Ghost Mikawa. It started with a YouTube channel created in April 2020, with its first video uploaded on May 1, 2020. A light novel series is written by Ghost Mikawa and illustrated by Hiten. The series began publication by Media Factory under their MF Bunko J imprint in January 2021. The series also has a manga adaptation by Yumika Kanade, which began serialization online in Kadokawa Shoten’s Shōnen Ace Plus in July 2021.
The series center on high school student Yuta Asamura, whose parent gets remarried and ends up getting a new stepsister, coincidentally the number one beauty of the school year, Ayase Saki. Having learned important values when it comes to man-woman relationships through the previous ones of their parents, they promise each other not to be too close, not to be too opposing, and to merely keep a vague and comfortable distance.
On one hand, Saki, who has worked in solitude for the sake of her family, doesn’t know how to properly rely on others, whereas Yuta is unsure of how to really treat her. Standing on fairly equal ground, these two slowly learn the comfortable sensation of living together. Their relationship slowly evolves from being strangers the more the days pass. Eventually, this could end up in a story about love for all we know.
