At the Aniplex Online Fest 2022 this Saturday, Aniplex announced that Ryohgo Narita’s Fate/strange Fake spinoff story will be debuting as a special anime titled Fate/strange Fake -Whispers of Dawn- on December 31, during the annual Fate Project New Year’s TV Special.
Fate/strange Fake is a light novel series that began being penned by Ryohgo Narita in 2015, though its actual origins are as an April Fool’s joke from the author in 2008. The story follows a new Holy Grail War waged between Mages and Heroes at Snowfield, a city in the western United States.
Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume are directing the special at A-1 Pictures. Yūkei Yamada is designing the characters, and Hiroyuki Sawano is composing the music. Aniplex also confirmed that this special will have simultaneous releases with English subtitles and English dubbing, all overseen by Aniplex of America.
▍Fate/Strange Fake Staff & Cast Comment
■ Shun Enokido (Director)
My name is Shun Enokido, and I will be working as the director.
Fate/strange Fake is a title that straddles not only previous Fate works but also TYPE-MOON works. The heroic spirits and masters in this game contain irregularity after irregularity.
This will not be a simple task, so two directors were summoned as well. After all, you never know what will happen in the Holy Grail War. I hope you will enjoy this raging entertainment with us.
■ Takahito Sakazume (Director)
My name is Sakazume, and I directing this anime alongside Shun Enokido. Fate/strange Fake is a new world of TYPE-MOON that goes beyond the usual framework of Fate. I feel that the two-director structure is meaningful, as it is a counterpart to the “true/false” story that this story tells. We hope to deliver to you an original experience that you have never seen before, using our animation skills and creative sensibilities.
