The television anime adaptation of FUNA’s Saving 80000 Gold Coins in Another World for My Retirement light novel series has revealed more information about its main cast along with a new trailer. The anime will start airing on January 7, 2023.
The trailer highlights the scene where Mitsuha returns to the present day with her ability to transfer between worlds given to her by “Thing”. It also previewed the opening theme song “The Direction The Shiny Coins Point To” (光ったコインが示す方) by Kaori Maeda, who plays the role of Sabine and has announced her debut as an artist.
More cast members are also revealed, including Ruriko Aoki as Erene, Colette’s mother, who is the first girl Mitsuha befriends in the other world, and Yuji Kameyama as Tobias, Colette’s father. The role of “Thing”, a god-like being who gave Mitsuha his powers and who takes the form of a Maneki-Neko, is played by Kenyuu Horiuchi.
Saving 80000 Gold Coins in Another World follows Mitsuha Yamano, an 18-year-old girl who has lost her family in an accident and is struggling financially. One day, she is granted the ability to travel between the modern world and another world and begins to strive to earn money in both worlds.
When Mitsuha faces difficulties, she often thinks about her deceased brother, What would my brother do? So, Mitsuha decides to save 80,000 gold coins worth 2 billion yen based on her brother’s advice.

At such a low point, a mysterious being gives her the ability to transfer between worlds, allowing her to go back and forth between the other world and her original world. She decides to save 80,000 gold coins worth 2 billion yen for her retirement by making full use of her new ability.

Rougo ni Sonaete Isekai from 8-Man-Mai no Kinka o Tamemasu is a Japanese light novel series written by FUNA. The series began serialization on the user-novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō on November 2, 2015, before being published in print with illustrations by Tōzai in Kodansha under their Kodansha Ranobe Books imprint starting June 29, 2017.
A manga adaptation of Saving 80000 Gold Coins in Another World with art by Keisuke Motoe began serialization on Kodansha’s Niconico-based Suiyōbi no Sirius platform on June 14, 2017.
