Apex Legends Mobile is Shutting Down on May 1

Just before the month is about the end, another high-profile mobile game announced it is being shut down, and that happens to be EA’s Apex Legends Mobile.

Released last year on May 17, 2022, Respawn Entertainment announced on its official Twitter account that the game will be shutting down due to “factors beyond our control” making it difficult to maintain a high-quality experience.

To further clarify and answer questions players may have about the shutdown, the developers put up a Q&A section on the game’s official website. In it a few key questions were answered, most notably being the game will not issue refunds for any purchases made in the game, as per EA’s User Agreement.

This announcement comes around the same time that EA reported its fiscal year earnings, stating that certain titles like Apex Legends on consoles and PC underperformed. While Respawn said that the shutdown of Apex Legends Mobile won’t affect developments on PC, it’s still a sign that the franchise isn’t doing as well as EA anticipated.
