Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Anime Film Delayed To June 16

The official website for the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King anime film announced a delay of almost 3 months for the film.

The delay was attributed to COVID-19 affecting the film’s opening the film’s production, though it wasn’t specified which part of the film’s production was affected by the pandemic. As such the film is delayed from its initial release date of March 31, to June 16. The film was also scheduled to be released on Netflix on the same day, but its release has also been delayed to coincide with the theatrical release.

About Black Clover

The story follows Asta, a young boy born without any magical power but with aspirations to become the next Wizard King. Orphaned and without any mana, Asta instead trains his physical strength to keep up with others, while his best friend Yuno is a child prodigy born with immense magical power and talent.

As the two develop a rivalry, one-day Yuno obtains a four-leaf grimoire that lets him hone his magic even further, while Asta finds a five-leaf grimoire, that contains a mysterious sword and anti-magic properties. Together the two join a Magic Knight Squad to fulfill their goal of becoming the next wizard king!
