The anime adaptation of The Rising of the Shield Hero released a new teaser trailer with English subtitles of the anime’s upcoming third season and announced that the series will be debuting in October 2023.
The trailer previews the season’s story, which seems to preview the Fallen Heroes arc of the light novel series, which is also the fifteenth arc of the web novel, which details the aftermath of the battle with the Spirit Tortoise, and the heroes Ren, Itsuki, and Motoyasu are now struggling with the weight and responsibilities of being a hero while being led down a dark path.
While season 2 had fairly mixed receptions, this time the season is being handled by a different team of staff members and has a new director.
The series also released a key visual, featuring all four of the heroes together with Naofumi taking a backseat in the image.
▍Rising of the Shield Hero Story
The Rising of the Shield Hero follows Naofumi Iwatani, a fairly average and unremarkable otaku in the real world, who is one day suddenly pulled into a parallel universe along with three others. He finds out that they are dubbed the four legendary heroes and are equipped with powerful weapons to save the world from prophesized destruction.
Unlike the other heroes though, Naofumi is dubbed the shield hero and is branded the weakest of the heroes. Ostracized and without a penny to his name, he wanders the streets with only his shield, but with a burning desire to rise up to save the world, and take his revenge against those that ridiculed him.
