Earlier during Evo Japan 2023, Cygames and Arc System Works announced that Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising will be having an Open Beta in May for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 to test the game’s network functionality. Sadly for those looking forward to the test, the beta has just been delayed from May indefinitely.
In a post made on the official Granblue Fantasy Versus Twitter account the developers explained that the test has been delayed due to stability issues during online play, to the point where it wasn’t deemed fit for a beta test experience. A new date will be announced after some issues have been fixed and the developers apologized for the inconvenience.
To still test its recent implementation of Rollback Netcode, the developers also announced the game will have a closed pre-access beta, before the open beta, with registration for that closed pre-access beta coming soon.
Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is slated for release globally in 2023.
▍About Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising
Granblue Fantasy Versus is a 2.5D fighting game released on February 6, 2020, for consoles and PC, and Rising is the game’s enhanced update bringing in new characters and systems.
The game features a variety of upgrades, including enhanced visuals to better match the aesthetic of the mobile game, several new mechanics to change how many of the characters play, and also adding new content such as an expanded story mode, and online features including the long-awaited Rollback Netcode feature and Crossplay, making it possible to play with more players globally with less lag.
New to the game is also the mini-game and lobby feature Grand Bruise Legends, which lets you play a sort of Fall Guys-style minigame with other players in your lobby as you go head to head in team-based minigames and battle royale modes while other players continue to duke it out in lobbies.
