The free-to-play open-world action RPG Tower of Fantasy will release for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on August 8, as revealed by its publisher Perfect World Games. Along with the announcement, a PlayStation pre-order trailer has also been unveiled featuring the upcoming character Liu Huo and Domain 9 sector. Pre-orders for paid editions of the game are now accessible via the PlayStation Store.
The PlayStation editions of Tower of Fantasy will operate separately from the existing versions on PC, iOS, and Android, published by Level Infinite. The absence of cross-platform connectivity implies that players on PlayStation will not be able to interact with those on other platforms.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Sky Wang, Lead Designer of Perfect World Games, shared insight into what players can expect in the PlayStation release. The blog revealed an interesting character, Liu Huo, who will be introduced into the game. Described as a fierce fighter with a passion for martial arts and an artistic soul, Liu Huo is set to play a key role in the game’s storyline, residing in the Domain 9 map, rich with Eastern aesthetics.
Wang elaborated on the thought process behind designing Liu Huo’s character, appearance, combat actions, and skill effects. These design elements reflect her dominant personality, while her weapon, a giant brush known as Pine Comet, signifies her refined taste. Her combat actions are a unique fusion of calligraphy and martial arts, underscoring her artistic pursuits alongside her combative abilities.
The PlayStation 5 release of Tower of Fantasy takes advantage of the console’s advanced features. The DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback provides an immersive gaming experience, allowing players to gauge the intensity of battles and dramatic story moments more accurately. Also, the controller’s built-in microphone facilitates seamless communication with teammates.
Tower of Fantasy will also make the most of the PS5’s powerful graphics capabilities, offering players a high-resolution gaming experience with diverse map styles rendered in stunning 4K. Among these are Aesperia’s sci-fi wasteland, Mirroria’s cyberpunk metropolis, the deep underwater world of Innars, and the upcoming magical eastern world of Domain 9, further enhancing the visual experience.

Tower of Fantasy for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 will be available in various paid editions. The Standard Edition, priced at USD $10.99, includes a copy of the game, a Monthly Pass, 100 Tanium, 10 Gold Nucleus, 10 Fried Chicken, 10 Crispy Grilled Fish, 10 Black Nucleus, and 10 Weapon Augmentation Box II.
The Deluxe Edition, costing USD $49.99, includes a copy of the game and also offers a host of additional features. These include 48-hours early access, a Simulacrum Deluxe Box, the “Move Planes” outfit, a “Smarty Housekeeper (2nd Gen.)” avatar, a “Playtime” avatar frame, and a “Game Master” chat frame for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The edition also contains a Monthly Pass, 2,000 Tanium, 10 each of Gold Nucleus, Black Nucleus, Fried Chicken, Crispy Grilled Fish, and Sizzling Meat, as well as 10 Nut teas and 20 Weapon Augmentation Box II.
