Konami confirmed during the June 21 Nintendo Direct that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 will be released on October 24 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam! Preorders for the Switch version are available now on the Nintendo eShop.
First revealed alongside the surprising reveal of Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater at the PlayStation Showcase in May, the recent announcement showcased the numerous bonus features found in the upcoming bundle’s first volume. Konami will be offering Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as standalone digital titles separate from the collection for USD$19.99 each.
Outside of compiling the first three mainline titles in the Metal Gear Solid series, the collection will also include Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, which are part of the lesser-known MSX line games of the series that touch on the events that lead up to the iconic Shadow Moses Incident in MGS1.
A digital screenplay book, alongside digital master books for all the mainline games (including the MSX ones!) will also be included as part of the base bundle.
Additionally, the trailer detailed the many features included in the Bonus Content pack which can be bought as part of the bundle. The bonus content list includes curios such as the NES port of Metal Gear and Snake’s Revenge, both developed without the involvement/input of series director Hideo Kojima. The bonus content will also include interactive graphic novels and a digital mini-soundtrack that contains tunes from each game contained in the holistic collection.
Pre-ordering or purchasing Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 will net fans three exclusive digital tracks: “The Best is Yet to Come”, “Can’t Say Goodbye to Yesterday”, and “Snake Eater”. These tracks are all arranged for orchestra, and recorded specially for this bundle!
