The upcoming television anime adaptation of Yū Hashimoto’s 2.5 Dimensional Seduction rom-com manga has released its key visual, first promotional video, main cast, and staff. The anime series is now scheduled for a 2024 release.
Junya Enoki plays the protagonist Masamune Okumura; Kaori Maeda plays Ririsa Amano; and Akari Kitō plays Mikari Tachibana. And fans are treated with a glimpse of the fervent otaku passion in the new key visual, where Ririsa cosplays Lilliel, and Mikari Tachibana as Lilliel’s devil friend Miriela.
2.5 Dimensional Seduction delves into the otaku culture through Masamune Okumura, a young man proclaiming, “I have no interest in real girls!” His obsession with a 2D manga character named Lilliel takes a turn when he meets a real 3D girl named Ririsa, who joins the manga club and reveals to him not only that she shares a love for the same character but also her passion for cosplay and convinces him to be her photographer. Together, they engage in cosplay activities, blurring the lines between 2D and 3D, setting the stage for a hot-blooded romantic comedy.
Yu Hashimoto started serialized the manga on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ manga website on June 15, 2019. As of May 2023, the series’ individual chapters have been collected into seventeen tankōbon volumes.
Hideki Okamoto is working as the anime director while Takao Yoshioka is penning the script. Tomoyuki Shitaya is designing the characters and Hiroaki Tsutsumi is composing the music. The anime is animated by J.C. Staff.

A high school second-year student and the president of the manga research club. He is an otaku who dearly loves the 2D character Lilliel, boasting about his affection to the point of declaring her “my wife.” He agrees to assist the newly arrived Ririsa with her cosplay photography.
■ Ririsa Amano – CV: Kaori Maeda
A high school first-year student and an otaku who loves manga and anime, especially the girls’ outfits within them. Since her first event participation in middle school, she has expressed her love for Lilliel through cosplay. Her cosplay quality is at a level that even the Lilliel-obsessed Okumura is astonished by.
■ Mikari Tachibana – CV: Akari Kitō
Lilysa’s classmate is a popular model with outstanding looks and style. Her fans affectionately call her Mikarin. She has had a crush on Okumura, her childhood friend, for 10 years, but he is uninterested in 3D girls, and as such, she cannot get him to notice her feelings.
