Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045: The Last Human Movie Opens on November 23 in Japan

Bandai Namco Filmworks has revealed the teaser trailer, artwork, and release date of the second Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 compilation movie. Titled Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045: The Last Human, the movie will be directed by Michito Fuji, the director of the previous movie, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045: Sustainable War. It will open in Japan’s movie theaters for three weeks starting November 23.

This movie will reconstruct the story from Season 2, which was previously distributed by Netflix in May 2022. Like the first compilation movie, the second movie will add in new scenes and will pack in tons of action in just a few short hours. The movie will also use the “Secret Ceremony” opening and the “No Time to Cast Anchor” ending song by millennium parade, which was used for the original season 2 airing.

Leading up to the release of the movie, a special Blu-Ray Box of Season 2 will be available starting on November 22, and will contain all of Season 2’s episodes in high quality.

In addition, starting on August 25, advance tickets with first-come, first-served special offers will be available at Meijer’s mail-order site and the theater box office. Purchasers can obtain the ticket for JPY$1500 (A JPY$400 discount from the regular ticket price), and you can also obtain a special clear file featuring the main visual of the movie as a purchase bonus.

Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045: The Last Human Synopsis

The story of the anime takes place in the year 2045, after an economic disaster known as the Synchronized Global Default, rapid developments in AI propelled the world to enter a state of “Sustainable War”. However, the public is not aware of the threat that AI poses to the human race.

Full-body cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi (CV: Atsuko Tanaka) and her second-in-command Batou (CV: Akio Otsuka) are former members of Public Security Section 9, who are now mercenaries traveling to the hot devastated American West Coast. This land is full of opportunity for the major and her team, they utilize their enhanced cyber brains and combat skills from their time working in Section 9.

However, things get complicated with the emergence of “post-humans,” who have extreme intelligence and physical powers. The members of Section 9 come back together again to face this new threat.
