▍Video Version:
▍Brave Frontier 2
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“Feels like the character designs aren’t catching up, but the graphics are improved.”
“Saves from the first game don’t sync, is there still a point in playing the first one?”
“The good thing about buying characters is it’s not a gamble like the gacha, the bad thing is it makes it pay to win.”
Sequel to the original Brave Frontier, the story of Brave Frontier 2 is set 20 years after the original. All the previous characters will appear in the new game (although none of them look like they have aged at all…). The overall resolution of the game has been improved greatly, however, the character designs and illustrations have received some negative feedback.
The sequel also introduces a new feature which allows players to buy characters, which is quite a bold move for the developers. Surely, most players will buy their favorite character from the original, right?
▍Makai Wars
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“Lite version of Makai Wars lacks some of the elements from the series but still has the overall atmosphere.”
“Although it is a turn-based tactical game, I still use auto and speed up, feels great.”
“Hope they add the rebirth system, I want to see insane damage numbers…”
Without the rebirth system, the mobile version seems more like a simplified casual tactical game with certain Makai War resemblances. The story and characters retain some of the essences of the original series, but if you’re looking for the authentic Makai Wars experience, it seems the mobile version won’t be able to fully do the job.
▍Princess Connect Re:Dive
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
There are a few strong characters that are 2 stars.”
This gameplay again? Oh well, Cuteness is Justice.”
It actually managed to reach the sales board with this gameplay?!”
When the game does one thing perfectly well, players will be able to forgive the other shortcomings. This game is a perfect example. The game’s system is a typical collectible RPG, but the adorable character designs and incredible cutscenes have fully charmed players to forget about the game’s system and just focus on the characters. Unfortunately, the game requires a Japan VPN to play, but if you’re interested, certainly a little extra step won’t stop you.
▍Kingdom Ran: Road to Unification
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“These rates… I’m definitely going to re-roll for Ou Ki before starting.”
“A typical Chinese shard-based game, not good…”
“After painfully waiting, the game turned out pretty bland…”
A shard-based RTS with simulation elements. Although each individual element is quite simple and plain, the ability to change your army’s formation and direct your troops in turns makes this game quite unique. Of course, the Kingdom characters also helps quite a bit. The rates for complete UR characters are incredibly low, so if you’re looking to play this game, you might want to re-roll until you have at least one UR character before starting.
▍Voice in Life
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“A game made completely for voice actor fans like me.”
“Instead of playing this game, its more like listening to this game.”
“Can we submit ero lines for the voice actors to read?”
At first glance, the game looks like an idol game with both male and female characters, but once you get into it, the game is quite simply a game that dresses voice actors in 2D skins for fans. The game quite simply allows players to combine different dialogues together to create personalized dialogues that are performed by each voice actor. As players progress further into the game, more dialogue will be unlocked.
▍Kemono Friends The Puzzle
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“I won’t ever expect anything good from Official Kemono Friends games from now on…”
“The content has nothing to do with Kemono Friends”
“The game feels so cheap… cries…”
It is impossible to deny the fact that the Kemono Friends’ influence is incredibly strong. Despite the game being a typical puzzle block remover and the fact that asides from the UI the game pretty much has nothing to do with the series, there are still a lot of fans willing to give this game a shot.
▍Sangokushi Revolution
Japanese Gamer Reactions:
“The war formation simulation isn’t bad, requires some thought and the combat feels swift.”
“UI looks so bad, especially the font, just looking at it pisses me off.”
“The combat graphics reminds me of Sengoku Rance”
A game that is definitely worth a shot, but the terrible UI makes it quite grueling for the player. The gameplay is something similar to Sengoku Rance, with a more simplified combat. The key to the game is to set the best formation that will bring out the most of your unit’s abilities. Asides from rushing PvP, there isn’t a lot about the game that is thrilling.
