▍Inter-School Tournament Sports Teams Montage
At the start of the episode, a small montage of each sport participating in the Inter-School tournament is briefly shown before Nankatsu’s entrance. The athletic teams highlighted are karate, volleyball, and baseball. The karate and volleyball teams are shown in the manga, but the baseball team makes an appearance in the anime. This scene further highlights the importance of each sport that’s competing and how major of an event the tournament is for both schools competing.
▍Taro’s Arrival to Japan
Taro is not given much attention early in the manga. In this episode, he’s placed more in the spotlight. Taro is mesmerized by the beautiful view from his new home as he is very content with his arrival and takes pictures of his mesmerizing perspective. With not much yet known about Taro, it leaves us wondering what may be so special about him.
▍Matsuyama & Furano Elementary
Whoa! The anime really is taking a much more modern turn and introducing what appears to be a new addition to the story. Cellphones are finally making an appearance and now play a crucial part to the current arc. Taro receives an email from a mysterious person named Matsuyama who also happens to have “Furano Elementary” in parenthesis next to their name. Could this be Taro’s old elementary school? Just who exactly is Matsuayma and will they make an appearance? Only time will tell!
▍Burning Spirits Rising in the Locker Room!
Before the start of the big match, team Nankatsu get together in the locker room to get ready. In this new scene, the team members exchange a few words with each other to boost their energy. With the spotlight of the conversation on Tsubasa, Ryo is full of excitement as he recounts the day he met Tsubasa. Exclaiming that without him, Nankatsu wouldn’t be as excited to be playing soccer!
▍Misaki Taro Meets Tsubasa
As Taro make his way to Shutetsu elementary he seems to have stumbled upon Sanae Nakazawa, the chief of the Nankatsu cheerleader club. Taro confusingly listens as she briefly talks to him about Tsubasa and compares his dribbling to Tsubasa’s. Ozora invites him to watch the match between Nankatsu and Shutetsu. He quickly sets his eyes on the kid he once came across on his journey – this is where he finds out that it’s Tsubasa Ozora.
The match is underway and there is still lots to compare ahead! Will the next episode show the winner of the tournament? Keep watching and look forward to Captain Tsubasa Episode Seven: Tsubasa The Sweeper!
